Missouri’s Good Samaritan law

Stay Calm, Get Help!

phone Missouri’s Good Samaritan law offers protections for both an individual who seeks or obtains medical assistance for someone who is experiencing a drug or alcohol overdose or other medical emergency and the individual who is experiencing said overdose or emergency. Immunity covers possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, keeping or maintaining a public nuisance, alcohol sale to a minor, possession of an altered ID, purchase or possession of alcohol by a minor, and violation of a restraining order, probation, or parole. The law does not protect against outstanding warrants or other offenses not specifically protected under this law (e.g. intent to distribute).

We understand that calling 911 is not always the safest or most comfortable option for individuals, but the Good Samaritan Law helps protect individuals to lessen the fears of police involvement.
