I was born and raised in Blue Springs, Missouri. Mid-way through middle school, I roped my parents into letting me home school and spent a good amount of time catching up in college. As it turned out, sixth grade pre-algebra wasn't as useful as I'd hoped.
At Saint Louis University I double majored in psychology and sociology. I chose two fields that would let me spend four years studying and working with people. After college I took off almost three years to work and see where the future would take me.
Scratching a lifelong political itch, I worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for two Members of Congress. After a few weeks as an intern, I landed a staff assistant job and could not have been happier to walk through the doors of the Cannon House Office Building every day. The experiences and people were incredible, and compensated for the notoriously low pay.
In January 2009, I was very proud to begin work on my M.A. in broadcast journalism at the Missouri School of Journalism.
In my spare time, you can usually find me watching poor quality reality TV, playing tennis or reading.
